About China Visas
Every foreigner needs a visa to enter China - do you know the
right type of visa and how to get it?
"Where Can I Obtain A Chinese
Visa?"
You can only apply for a visa from (a) the Chinese embassy in your
own country, or (b) a visa agency with connections to a
border-crossing visa issuing office [mainly applies to Hong Kong -
only attempt this route if you are positive your country's passports
are served through these alternative channels].
You can't apply for a China Visa online (unless you post your
passport to a travel agent who applies for you to the consulate).
Visas are granted by the Chinese consulate / embassy and never directly from a
non-governmental agency.
To get an idea of what the application form involves, you can

country here.
"What Are The Requirements For
Getting A Chinese Visa?"
Basically you will need to have a passport with at least 6 months
validity left. And then you have to submit a fairly simple visa
application form to your embassy along with an invitation letter for
business visas. In some circumstances you may also need to attend an
interview or provide travel/business documentation. For full details
you will need to speak to the Embassy of the People's Republic of
China in your home country.
The exact requirements for the China visa application process will
vary according to where you are from. The criteria for whether or
not you are granted the visa, and what length of stay you can get,
will also vary. You're never guaranteed to get a particular type of
visa, but you can improve your chances of your China Business Visa
application going through smoothly if your application is
accompanied by a proper formal invitation letter.
"Who Can I Get An Invitation
Letter From?"
You could try to ask the Chinese people you are visiting to provide
an invitation letter for you. However, unless they are experienced
in hosting foreign visitors, they are unlikely to know how to
produce a valid invitation letter and will probably be unwilling or
slow to provide the documentation you require.
If you don't already have Chinese contacts, e.g. because you are
just visiting the Canton Fair or another trade show, it can be hard
to get anyone to provide you with an invitation letter.
