If You Need To Book A Hotel For Your Stay In China, Check Out The Following China Hotel Information:
If you are travelling to China for a Trade Fair, e.g. the CECF
Canton Fair in Guangzhou, please book your accommodation well in
advance!
All the cities in China have excellent hotels and you can
usually get much, much lower room rates than the walk-in prices
if you book through a travel agency. The same applies to
contacting hotels directly by email or phone - you can usually
get better rates by talking to agencies in China first because
they have bulk booking discounts!
In major cities, 4-star hotels are usually very comfortable, if
not luxurious. 5-star hotels tend to have better restaurants and
more extensive facilities, but if you are a business visitor you
may not need to go for the most expensive.
Almost all 4 Star hotels in China will have at least a few staff
who speak English.
Hotels in China usually require you to present your passport for
regsistration on check-in, but there is no need for them to
retain your passport.
It is not uncommon for Chinese hotels to ask for a deposit upon
check-in of twice the nightly room rate. This is refundable and
make sure you get a receipt...and remember to ask for your
deposit back when checking out!
3 Star hotels in China and below may not necessarily have
western-style toilets or baths. You can always check in
advance or ask to look at different rooms before checking in.
You may find you are being offered a more expensive room than
you need, and you can ask to look at rooms on other floors.
Always be careful you are dealing with a bona fide travel agency
or hotel before giving out your credit card details. You can ask
them to fax official booking forms that will enable you to check
on the credibility of their business. ALWAYS deal with companies
not indviduals.
Just a tip- ask the staff to show you the A/C remote in your
room to make sure the air conditioning is working before they
leave you there!!
